Located at the base of the North Downs, this small lake is filled with beautiful clear water and lined with trees, making it a picturesque place to visit. It is a place of folklore, and it is also known as being the place where Agatha Christie was once thought to have drowned when her husband left her. It is only four miles from Guildford and is an easy place to visit for an afternoon trip.
Walk to the top of Leith Hill on a clear day and you will enjoy spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. The walk takes you through a woods, and at the top there is a small shop selling food and drink.
Virginia Water in Windsor Great Park was for many years the largest body of water made by man in Britain. It is surrounded by beautiful woodlands, and it is also home to the Frost Farm Plantation, which is a Site of Special Interest. You can also see the Leptis Magna Ruins, made from columns taken from Leptis Magna, an ancient city in North Africa, and a 100-foot totem pole.
